About Jay Moore
Catawba County Commissioner · Stay on Target
Why I’m running / Why November matters
Jay Moore won the March 2026 Republican primary for Catawba County Commissioner. The job is not finished. On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Catawba neighbors choose who sits on the Board of Commissioners. Jay is asking for that general-election vote — same neighbor, same four priorities, Stay on Target.

Family, work, and community
Family & faith
Born August 27, 1974, in Iredell County, Jay has called Catawba County home his entire life. He graduated from Maiden High School. He married Amy on April 13, 2002. They are raising their son, Zack, a junior at Maiden High School. Family is the cornerstone of his life. He serves as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Tri-City Baptist Church in Conover.
Work
Jay earned degrees in Business Management and Industrial Management at Catawba Valley Community College. Since August 31, 2015, he has operated Unifour Life & Retirement in Hickory as a Life & Retirement Specialist. That work is about sitting with families, keeping promises, and watching a budget. He will bring the same stewardship to county budget votes — listen first, spend carefully, keep Catawba on target.
Community
He enjoys hunting, fishing, and time in the Smoky Mountains and North Myrtle Beach. He is a Dallas Cowboys fan and a professional wrestling fan. He draws inspiration from his grandfather, Abee Hicks, and President Ronald Reagan. He is a Republican. As County Commissioner, he will work with fellow commissioners to put Catawba County’s people first — listening, backing responsible policies, and keeping this a place where families thrive and businesses can make a living.
