About Jay Moore
Biography
Born on August 27, 1974, in Iredell County, I have proudly called Catawba County home my entire life. A graduate of Maiden High School, I furthered my education at Catawba Valley Community College, earning degrees in Business Management and Industrial Management. These foundations have shaped my commitment to strategic planning and community-focused leadership.
On April 13, 2002, I married my wife, Amy, and together we are raising our son, Zack, a junior at Maiden High School. Family is the cornerstone of my life, and I am deeply rooted in our community through my service at Tri-City Baptist Church in Conover, where I serve as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. My faith guides my values and my dedication to serving others.
Since August 31, 2015, I have operated Unifour Life & Retirement in Hickory as a Life & Retirement Specialist. My professional experience has honed my skills in financial planning, problem-solving, and building trust with clients—qualities I will bring to the role of County Commissioner. I understand the importance of fiscal responsibility and long-term planning to ensure Catawba County’s prosperity.
My passion for Catawba County extends beyond my professional and spiritual life. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, and vacationing in the Smoky Mountains and North Myrtle Beach. A lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and professional wrestling, I also draw inspiration from my grandfather, Abee Hicks, and President Ronald Reagan, whose values cemented my commitment to the Republican Party and principled governance.
As your County Commissioner, I pledge to collaborate with fellow Commissioners to prioritize the needs of Catawba County’s greatest asset—its people. My vision is to foster economic growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance quality of life while preserving the values that make our community unique. I will listen to your concerns, advocate for responsible policies, and work tirelessly to ensure Catawba County remains a place where families thrive and businesses prosper.
